Oh definately Max, if i ever do SAS her it wont be for a while! I was looking up some solid axle hilux today and doing some research, also got a price from a local mob to do the conversion! But this is all research, nothing will be happening for a long time if ever.

shes coming along nicely! got any shots of the full car with the xrox? ive tossed up the idea of running brush bars of the xrox down onto my sliders! with your custom tray thatll look real nice :)
im a fan of that grill too actually, with a pair of lights in front of it, itll brake it up a bit and look tuff

Man I am a big fan of scrub bars, I've looked at the xrox before and tried to decide how you would fit scrub bars onto it and make them look any good and also flow down without making them look out of place!
Yes I am very happy with the grill, it came up pretty dam nice and everything I done really comes together....

NEW PARTS NEEDED:
* Front Diff Mounts
* Front Struts
* CV Joint

REASON FOR NEW PARTS:
Well on the weekend went out to the bridal track for a camp and 4wd, lunch time on sunday i was attempting a pretty narly looking hill, quite steep, slightly rutted and was all loose rocks. I got stuck at one stage and after packing it with rocks and stuffing around i put the foot down and i didnt go much further than i heard a really loud bang :shock:
I knew what i did straight away, but to what extent i didnt know! Slowly got it down the hill to assess the situation. I poped the inner cv joint out, we couldnt get it back in so we just tied it up a little with some rope and headed home and what a slow trip it was!!

Woke up this morning, called my mechanic and went straight over, eventaully got the cv back into housing when i noticed the drivers side (which is the one i poped out) was nearly on double the angle of the passenger! On further investigation, here is what we think/know happened, where i stopped on the hill when cv poped, i must of hit a rock with a fare bit of force, this hit my bash guard which has pushed up far enough to hit my diff mount and bent it, which pushed and twicted the front diff to the point where the cv has popped out, also at the same time this has bent the stem of my shock...

Anyway we got the cv back in and straightened the shock as good as we could, go home and went to put it in the shed when i heard another bang and clunking.... f$@#&% !!!
The cv had poped out again and this time full ripped a hole in the rubber boot, so once again more stuffing around got he cv back into housing once again, got it into the shed where it will be staying untill i get the new parts!

So the damage was pretty much all my fault, too much right foot and not choosing the best line i could have. But i guess its just a difficult was to lean....

Not quite the way you would want to wear out the front end, but it could have been a lot worse. A least you haven't damaged the diff (that you know of)

Ahh the big break virgin has now gone....... it does get easier ( and you get more carefull)

What bash plates do you have.

I had a slip the other weekend and dropped onto a medium size rock.
Big noise.
buds bash plate broke the rock in half. Haha.

Do you have a diff drop.

I think Jacks fortunate that the whole cv didnt get pulled out of the front diff housing. the fact the inner tripod came apart kind of helped him make it home by keeping the diff seals and the cv shaft tied out of the way.

Yes, expensive way to learn....always "try" and pick the right line...that comes with experience, we all make mistakes.

always try and crawl it at first if possible.

sometimes you just have to swallow some pride and just say "Nope, not gonna make it up that today without risking a breakage"....sometimes we are prepared to risk it, sometimes we arnt....

Unfortunate, but good learning experience.... :ugeek:

you running a spacer jack above the bilsteins?

I think from memory you put an extra groove in but not sure.....either way it seems like it was a hard hit.

Yea guys ill be going a full REKON kit up front, well thats the plan anyway, this gives me an actual reason to change over now!
As for the diff mount, i will need either a new mount just for that one side or a full new set for Matty!
The CV i think i will replace it will a cheap repco one for now than once Matty has his upgraded ones back in stock i will be chucking them bad boys in.....

Yea unsure how that got bent, there was obvisouly a shit load of force when i hit the rock or what ever it was that done all the damage. So some where and some how with it all :?

Yes definately was a fare effort, but i totally put up my hand for the damage as it was purely my fault and inexperience on my behalf! Though lesson learnt and i will try my hardest to not have something like this happen again....

Got some good news, picked up a new cv joint from Repco today and wow what a monster it is, and how heavy! The cv is a actual branded Repco and comes with 5yrs/100,000 km warrenty, so i would think its pretty good quality.
Also got some new bits and peieces from Monster Rides turning up hopefully by friday so they can be fitted over weekend: adjustable shocks, front diff mounts, bash plate to suit, also might have something else but havent decided yet....

Anyway here is the new cv, when i change it out i will get some compare pictures too:
