What Brand 3 Inch Lift kit ?

Postby trentlux on Sat, 21 Aug 2010 4:19 +0000

Hey guys new to the forum but super impressed already.
Currently have a 2008 Hilux SR5 Dual Cab with Arb Deluxe bar and rear bar + 12500 pound Tigerz 11 winch 31 inch tires.
Really wanting some info on either the Tough tog 3 inch lift or the bilstein 3 inch both these kits look great the tough dog kit is a little more pricey but includes the diff drop kit total price of $ 2800. What are your thought of these kits or any other kits that might possibly be good quality ?

Cheers Trent.

Mate alot of guys on this forum including me are running a 3" bilstein kit, for Cal Offroad.....
Me personally am loving it, handles awesome, looks the goods and just better all-round, dont think ive read a bad comment to do with the billies except for the few bad stories you hear about different components breaking, but you hear the stories with every brand anyway!
With the drop diff kit, its not really needed, some people have them some dont, up to you with that one! I think its more personal preference, and make some people more at ease if they know they got a drop diff kit!

My 2c anyway...

the sky jacker shocks give you a little extra flex on the back. There a good shock and very popular in the US, not too sure about here though..... People go for the billies because they are fully re-buildable and have a great reputation, also word of mouth (people talking about the gear on this forum) greatly contributes to many members haveing the same kit! It truely is a very well thought of kit :D

I have that exact same winch and bar plus dual batteries, I have the Call offroad kit. Highly recomend it! Cal has luxes sorted and is a good bloke! I just used the Cal Billies and a 2 inch lifting block with stock springs in the rear to save a few bucks because I hardly ever carry much weight. Vehicle is very well balanced now and handles and looks great! The Billies are very impressive and really transform the vehicle. The cal ones have different valving to standard billies too.....
Cheers

I agree with the other guys, if you want a 3in kit you can go for something like what me and a few others are running, but if you dont want to spend that sort of coin you cant go past the cal off road kit. A few comp guys i know are very good mates with him and they all say the same as guntre said, he is a top bloke and everything he sells is top quality
Im not stuck..... Im thinking

I've been looking around to and I have come across a company up in Brisbane called Superior Engineering and they offer a 3 inch bilstein kit for $1850 plus the diff drop is another $175.

IMHO 4" is useless unless it's a show truck (mall crawler) on our lux's due to there being nearly no down travel with that height lift, your better off doing a 3" suspension and 2" body

Cheers Troy

Hi guys
Have recently purchased 18" rims with 285 tyre from cooper looks mean as . had previously got lift kit from iron man and thought i would have enough clearance from the tyre when turning is rubbing slightly. so sent back to them as kit in the front dropped so they raised it again and put a 15mm spaacer in and it is not rubbing untl i am locked either way and the front end copresses. Does any one have a quick fix? The wheels and tyres are staying!

At what point should aftermarket replacement UCA be considered....Like is 2'' lift OK with stock UCA, but if its 3", its advisable to replace them to get full articulation and correct camber? Or are most people on here running 3" lifts still running stock UCA's?
