Hey , I am currently running TOYO open country 247/75/16 at the moment on 08 single cab d4 Hilux . I was looking into buying Dueler 697's , has anyone tried these ?

Yep- and no. Wouldn't buy again- rooted after 35k and that wasn't any hard driving! They are a quiet tyre but I reckon they are a soft compound. I also had about 5 punctures , way more than I have had with any other tyre.

Thanks for the reply mate , Wow that's no good I drive 70% highway 30 % beach I was looking at coopers AT as well

Had a few sets around 65k on each of them probably would have been good for 70-75k but I don't run to low, light truck construction never had a puncture or issues. I am getting them when the company truck needs new rubber.

Tikk51, sounds like u are talking about the original equipment Bridgestone 684's that come standard on the car.

I would suggest Bfgoodrich A/T ko2's

I've had these on my DC ute for over two years and 40,000kms. Couldn't be happier with them. I've found them to be one of the best all round tyres. Great on the road and still provide decent grip off road.

They're wearing really well. They still have over 50% tread.

I won't hesitate to buy another set.

Mine are 255/70/R15 which is stock size for my SR5.

That size is only a 6P (load range C) rating and has a weaker carcase than the 8 and 10P rating sizes (load ranges D and E)

31/10/50R15 had a reputation for punctures when it was a common size, regardless of brand. The more common 16" and 17" sizes are load ranges D and E, so much stronger.

I Got what I think is a good price for these today of $775 for 4 wondering what people's thoughts are on them, have about 550kg in the back over the weight of a standard tub.

I have the D697 on the Hilux. Have taken the ute through the Kimberly and Arnhem Land whilst loaded up. Held up great. Haven't had a puncture other than on the work site.

I went one step up in the load rating for extra strength and peace of mind.

They did mention 2 load ratings think one was $225 and the other $260.

I had these on my last 2008 Hilux. The LT A/T type
The last set had 70,000ks when i sold them with still about 8mm left
The set before I think were slightly different (D694's ring a bell) and got 105,000ks out of them
I do about 190kms a day on the Highways then head for fun on the occasional weekends. They performed well on sand and rocky trails.
I have only done 7500kms on the new hilux, but will get new rims before upgrading, and the Bridgestones are on top of the list. Since my first Yokohama Super Diggers on my 76 FJ40, to Maxxis, Coopers, BFGoodriches etc on a range of Vehicles including three Hilux's, I can't fault the Bridgestones
It all depends on how you drive, how you stop, and where you want to go

I haven't had those before but can't fault Mickey Thompson's. Previously had BFG KO2 and wasn't that happy with them. Very hard compound and very heavy.

I got a set for $850 fitted they feel much better on the road , yet to hit the sand though .

Were these prices for the non-LT or LT construction? Best I can find is $1100ish for 4...

Is the LT construction definitely worth it? What are the benefits? I wont be carrying heavy loads or anything...

I had a set a while ago on my 2012 DC, and I was lucky to get 45k out of them, and I though that was a bit weak, and low and behold I bought another set, simply because of the cost, I couldn’t get a better deal. For my next set, I will try and get some BFG’s

Stronger construction and less likelihood of damage and punctures.
Mine have about 55k & guessing another 10k to go. Mostly heavy load / towing around the centre and top end they have been great. Lighter than BFG and still able to remove/refit yourself with tyre pliers if you need to in an emergency (only tested, no failures yet). Definitely getting again.

I run non LT tyres as my daily wheels. Lighter, better ride quality, bag more for sand and cheaper. The still do gravel and offroad pretty well.

My mud tyres are LT rated.

I dont have enough data to make any guesses about puncture resistance as I've never had a flat on either of the sets.
