Petrol or diesel

Guys I'm looking at getting a newish luxy, like an 08 or 07 model. I'm set on the diesel for reasons of long distance travel and the simple fact they last longer provided they are serviced regularly, but ive found a few 4.0LV6 petrol models that are at a good price, just wanna hear some pro's and cons from drivers of both.
