hi team has anyone fitted ktfr101hhd king spring coils [390mm long not the normal 370mm 101hd ] to bilstein struts as i would like to know what lift to expect with them set on bottom ring .i have arb bar winch and side rails.since fitting these options standard suspension has collapsed,so am looking at this option.also looking at kings toy-092 in the rear with billys. i have a steel tray and mostly carry light loads . any advise would be appreciated.thanks gecks

thanks for unlocking thread,i did a search before posting and all i could find was through [front coils guide whats available and what specs].
then to member skog 07
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2339&start=20
subject was very detailed but he was using ome struts.skog 07 advised in future that he would try fitting them to bilstein struts ,but unable to find any further info, hence post.
also just wondering how to put [location] in shed. register ?
thanks gecks.

Gecks..
I still have the KTRF101HHD springs sitting in shed.. The KTRF101HDs are awesome even in the OME strut..
My combo of OME and King springs sits at around 30mm above stock height.. Which I am really happy with... :) Just need a bit better rebound dampening which I cant extract from the OME strut...

Samtwocan... Or Ssiddes as we all know him as has the HHDs fitted to his hilux but I cannot remember the strut... I think it is tough dog... It sits very high and looks as though the lift looks as though its about 50-60mm+.

Cheers.

Yep, I have the Xtra heavy Toughdog springs on Toughdog struts, from my build page.

Height at front before lift, just under 700mm (included winch and steel bar)
Height after lift, 785mm (deep cycle goes under bonnet tomorrow)

Back went up about 63mm.

I quess this will settle down a bit as it wears in.

thanks for info guys, just a little hard to compare heights as dont know lenth of struts compared to bilstein.
from what i have read it seams most people are using bilsteins with 101hd on third ring, can you tell me how far these rings are apart ?mm
i am after true 50 mm lift,so am assuming with 20mm longer springs on bottom ring will hopefully achieve this with potential to adjust up in future without getting grooves machined

Gecks.
There are some others on here as well that have used the KTRF101(17mm wire dia) spring with extra grooves machined into the strut to achieve up to a 3 inch lift on Billies. But have complained of sag issues... The higher you lift these vehicles the harder the spring has to work as the mechanical advantage deminishes the higher you lift them.. The ratio seems to be approximately 1.75 - 2.25:1, depending on the spring.. Strut... etc etc...
Still reckon 30mm is the ducks nuts... :) Mine sits at 745 on the front.. on 15 inch rims...
Always reckon this site would benefit from a "droop" measurement on all struts... Regardless of springs...
Any takers.... :) Start a thread... :)
Cheers.

Hey guys'

I had the Billies and king set up in my old lux and did 70thou on them without a problem, but on the new lux i fitted a full Dobinson kit front and back ! not only did i get roughly 20mm more lift the ride is a lot more forgiving and offroad they work a lot better too. Correct me if i,m wrong but i,m led to believe Dobinson and bilstein come out of the same factory.

I think the safest way to get a nicely matched 50mm lift is to go with the Tough Dog ssdsibes and myself run. I just checked mine and am still measuring 765mm drivers side and 750 mm passenger side with dual battery, full fuel tank, winch and steel bar (with 16's) after 24,000 km. So if you reference ssdsibes measurements, and adjust 10-12mm for the different rim, I still have 50mm lift after a few miles on the clock. Most kits only lift 30-40mm.

If you want a bit more, then Ryano says he is getting 110mm lift out of a Cal Offroad Bilstein kit (with EFS springs and a diff drop bracket). He reckons the loss of clearance due to the diff drop bracket is a small price to pay for the extra clearance. I think that is the setup Twisty is running. Not a bad way to go if you want Bilsteins.

I personally think you are better off going with a kit and benefit from what hopefully has been a bit of R&D effort on the part of the manufacturer.

My experience was that the dual battery pulled the stock suspension down by 5mm and the winch and bar dropped it by 15mm.

My drivers side is always lower than the passenger side (previously always 5mm). Maybe the extra difference is related to a full tank of fuel today?

As far as I know Bilsteins and Dobinsons definitely aren't manufactured in the same factory. Billsteins are Germany and Dobinsons are Aussie.

Has anyone installed the Bilstein/Ridepro kit put together by Darren Mcrae at Autocraft (previously at ATS) in Geelong? Thoughts?
Lots of good feedback on Pradopoint, but haven't come across anything in searches here.
Reason being this kit is supplied locally (Adelaide) and fitted by Total Traction Tyres. Bilsteins don't seem to be very common in Adelaide.

finaly got kit fitted.
front right 680 mm to 770 mm
front left 684 mm to 768 mm
rear right 715 mm to 805 mm
rear left 710 mm to 800 mm

note, i have 15" rims on so it has given me a 60 mm lift, i will see how much it settles in a few kms as heading to mountains in a week.
top measurements are for bottom circlip , also fitter firstly put springs on middle position [didnt think i would get enough lift] this raised above heights on front by further 20 mm .
very happy with ride ,was a little worried [as have had back issues] on just how firm it would be ,but suprisingly comfortable.
will post photos in shed when i learn how to use this :? computer.

Dobinsons make their springs in Australia and Im pretty sure their shocks are imported from India. Ive got a fully Dobinsons kit under mine, new coils and shocks in front, heavy duty leaves and shocks in the rear (they manufacture a super heavy duty kit above mine), U-bolts, grease-able shackles and polyurethane bush kit. Not very happy with the shocks, you can hear them squeak over speed bumps. Have been thinkin of changing them out to Koni's or Blistein but if I do i want more height

just got back from a week up the mountains with heavily loaded lux, rechecked lift heights .found springs have settled 10mm both front and back, hope it stays at this height. 50mm lift front.
the only issue i have is the sway bar is rubbing on the side of the coil spring mount[base plate], has anyone had this problem.
thanks
