Ordered, hopefully they are the go although if its too much lift i suppose io can just drop the strut down a notch.... Spoke to the bloke from snake racing and he said it was a pretty simple install. Is this right? Cant wait it will finally be level!!!

Pre spacers was 18mm, now 63mm

Fairly easy to install, seperating and holding up the upper wishbone took a bit of effort as well as joining them togeather again. A pinch bar made it easier. One took a while the second 20mins.
Angle of shaft is more accute, suck it and see I guess.

Extended shackles are illegal in QLD, so are the spacers, suspension lifts that exeed 50mm, increasing the tyre diameter by more than 15mm etc...

Just about anything you want to do to a 4WD is illegal in QLD.

Lately Lux is correct, extended shackles are definitely illegal however I wasn't sure about the spaces as it does say a maximum suspension lift of 50mm however does that include spacers. From what I had previously been told body lifts (does that include spacers) are ok up to 50mm as well.....

Now back to extendable shackles and spacers....I am getting a little confused so thought I would try and clear this up.

With the spacer this will increase the CV angle as per a 2 inch suspension lift right? So if you have a 2 inch lift and then add spacers this is going to create a pretty heavy CV angle.

As for the extended shackles this should in effect reverse the effects of the spacers shouldn't it because they lower the point where the lower control arm attaches to the vehicle therefore giving it back the angle and the 50mm travel or so.

Is that right or wrong?

By the way when we say they are illegal, they are only illegal once you have been found out or once you have an accident and the insurance company see's them and rejects your claim..... How many coppers out there do you think would know what an extended shackle was?

Smithyworld, extended shackles fit on the rear of the rear leaf spring to give a increase in ride hieght. To correct CV angles you need a drop kit for the front diff. Both have been discussed in recent posts.

I was aware that you have the shackles at the rear for the leaf springs but I also thought that there was a similar product for the front. Maybe I am just way off course!

It's going to be very interesting now that a couple of you guys are going 3-4 inch lifts without correcting the CV angle, with a ultimate or snake kit or even dropping the front diff. I'm interested to see over the next 6 months if all this talk about breaking CV's, because you lift the front end too high is true. (Now we have a couple of test trucks) Macca, Green Hilux Guy & mmaaxx. I hope it's all talk, i wouldn't mind going that high myself

The only problem with anything over 2 inchs is the loss of travel i think. Greenhiluxguy was telling me about that a while ago. No downward travel as it is already nearly fully extended.

There was a previous post about there being a possibilty of stronger CV arms getting made up by someone. Has anyone heard anymore on this? By the way Macca, it looks alot better mate! I just gotta wait for mine to arrive now!

How is the camber with such a lift? It almost looks positive!

I spoke to Yuri 4x4 about a stronger CV itself. They don't think it's worth it.

What's that mean Wade not worth it to get stronger CV's, if I break one I intend to get a Yuri strenghened pair. I would have allready bought some but have been unable to locate some second hand one as yet, though not tried to hard.

i think the issue with the CV's breaking is the inner tripod joint failing, which is very hard to fix the unless you go to a full live axle conversion.
My point is, unless you can get a new CV that has a stronger inner tripod joint, it's pointless upgrading your cv's in the hilux.

TOMUCH my be able to post a picture of this inner tripod joint. Sounds like they have changed their tune from the response I receive some 9 months ago, also sound like their trying to push the solid axle conversion as well.
